The IEEE Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society (IEEE-EMBS) Chapter of the Malaysia Section is one of eighteen (18) existing chapters in Malaysia, and is one of the few IEEE EMBS Chapters in South East Asia, and belongs to the IEEE Region 10. The chapter was formed in 2009. By 2012, The IEEE-EMBS Chapter of Malaysia was awarded the "2012 Most Outstanding IEEE-EMBS Chapter" by IEEE-EMBS Headquarter. Recently, the chapter has been bestowed with 2015 Most Outstanding Chapter by the HQ.
The IEEE-EMBS Malaysia Chapter constantly seeking to collaborate and work with related entities. Thus far, we have established linkages with various IEEE-EMBS Chapters such as Singapore Chapter, Shenzhen Chapter, Shanghai Chapter, and others. Besides that, we also worked closely with IEEE Student Branches namely, IEEE UiTM Student Branch, and IEEE-EMBS Student Club of Curtin University Sarawak campus, and also the newly formed IEEE-EMBS Student Club of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. We are looking forward to establish more linkages, and we look forward to listen to you too.
The IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Malaysia Chapter was established in 2009. The chapter gathers Biomedical-related groups in Malaysia aimed in spearheading biomedical-related activities in Malaysia, and beyond.
The chapter organises numerous technical activities such as Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP), Workshops, Tutorials, and relevant activites related to EMBS in Malaysia. In 2013, the Chapter has assisted in formation of the first EMBS Club in Malaysia under Curtin University Sarawak.
Besides technical activities, the Chapter also actively participated, and organised activities on Humanitarian Activities in Malaysia. Beginning in 2012, the Chapter has organised activities in orphanage, whilst in 2013, the Chapter has organised activities together with Curtin EMBS Club to spastic centre in Miri, Sarawak.
With 122 chapters worldwide, 47 student branch chapters and 18 student clubs, EMBS has a wide variety of chapters and networking opportunities for its members. Chapters provide local activities such as workshops, tutorials, and speaker talks for members who may not have the opportunity to attend other worldwide EMB activities.
